Bandar Poonch or The monkey tail is a mountain peak (Parvat Chooti)
in Uttarkhand state of India. The origin
of the holy River Yamuna lies at the western of Yamunotri Glacier of Bandar
PoonchThis is very important part of Chardham Yatra when people come to visit the
holy places in Uttarakhand.
Barkot is a Nagar Panchayat in Uttarkashi and it is located
1220 meter high from Uttarkashi district and this place is just 50 km far from
Yamunotri. Tourists enjoy the surrounding natural view from Bandar Poonch. This
is a part of attraction of devotees and tourists and force to stop for some
time to take peaceful and natural surroundings.
According to Hindu mythology, The Mighty Hindu God Hanuman (monkey
god) reaches to this peak to extinguish his tail (Poonch). By this time it is
kown as Bandar Poonch Parvat.
